I saw a video on youtube called 8 minute abs workout. I’m trying to lose my belly fat and gain a 6 pack to impress this girl in my class and I was wondering if this the right workout for me. I’ve been doing it for the past 2 weeks now and I haven’t seen much results. Do these exercises really work? If they do, how long will it take?

well the 8 min videos are effective only if you do them exacly as is instructed
and you are not going to see results in just a week, you need to wait more like 4 months atleast

The exercise does build up your ab muscles quite well, but it won’t help you lose fat. You need to do cardio to burn fat. Also do the 8 minute abs + 2 minute abs one. Just type “8 minute abs beep” and you will see it.

Well here’s the thing… you say you have belly fat. Those workouts work to build and shape your stomach muscles, but do nothing to burn fat. So you probably have a ripped 6-pack underneath that belly fat.
That’s a very common myth, that you burn fat in certain spots the same way you build muscle in certain spots. Not true at all, however. Fat burns everywhere, no matter what body part you are exercising. You can run 5 miles a day and burn the fat off of your stomach and arms, and you can do bench presses and curls and burn fat off your legs (well you’re better off doing cardio to burn fat, I just used those lifting exercises as an example).
So, use those ab exercises to shape your muscle, absolutely. But don’t expect to lose any fat because of it. To lose fat, you need to consume fewer calories than you burn. You can accomplish this by eating less (consuming fewer calories), exercising more (increasing the amount of calories you burn), or ideally both. Doing both of course will get you results more quickly. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose a single pound. Thus, if you know that you burn 2,500 calories a day, then if you only consume 2,000 calories a day, you will lose one pound a week, mostly fat. Knowing how much you burn is the tricky part, but what you do is set yourself up with a set diet where you know how much you are consuming (and stick with it!)… then, adjust your caloric intake up and down every couple of weeks according to how much weight you are or aren’t losing.
The bad news is, there is not really a fast way to lose weight (or gain it), at least naturally. There is no miracle machine that will burn all your fat and give you ripped abs in 2 weeks. But the good news is, anyone can do it. Just remember what I said about fat burning everywhere (not certain spots), and more importantly what I said about what you eat vs. what you burn. Those are two truths, not myths, and will get anyone where they want to be with a little dedication.

Exercises usually work when you are doing them with a good healthy diet, you can’t just start doing ab workouts and expect to have a six pack while eating bad food. Maybe you should add some cardio in your workout, that usually helps with fat being lost. Try jumping rope or even playing some sports like basketball or something. The more active you are the more possibility you have in getting those six pack abs.

I too have seen that on youtube. Yes and no. I think that it all depends on diet and other physical training. If you are only doing the eight minute abs and nothing else, then I would say no. One would really need 30 minutes of exercise three times a week which should include ab exercises.

The first step is to lose the fat around your belly for your abs to become visible (if that is your goal).Abs are the easiest muscles to tone or develop. They need lesser time as compared to other larger muscles.
The 8 minute workouts do help if done correctly.
Do some cardio to get rid of the fat around your belly. That is the hardest part.A very good low fat diet coupled with exercise should do the trick.
Depending on the amount of fat you have around your belly the time for your abs to show may vary.
On an average if you don’t have lots of fat to lose around your belly you are looking at about 2 months.
