Or is it just for show?
I’ve avoided getting illnesses that those around me have had since I’ve been working out (colds, viral gastroenteritis, etc.)
So it’s an indirect correlation?
Strenght and power play a huge role in many health advantages. Decreased diseases, decreased injury, better bone density.
And of course, looks. But better shape usually means less fat and fat can lead to a higher rate of heart disease, diabetes…
Also bodybuilders and other weight lifters tend to eat better. Being stronger and healthier just generally leads to a longer life span and being able to still get around great at those higher ages rather than being stuck in a wheelchair (or in adlut diapers).
The six pack itself is not necessarily a health advantage. The body does require a certain amount of body fat to be at optimum health/efficiency. Bodybuilder’s do tend to eat more healthy than the average person, but they can also take their competition dieting to an unhealthy extreme. It would be more beneficial to discuss your dieting and exercise goals with your doctor.
High self esteem/self worth, strength, power, less injury prone, intimidating, healthier – feel better about yourself & fight off illnesses/viruses, motivated for work a lot more often, happy, a great body, compliments, beach season and the whole “showing off factor”.
