Panic attacks are terrifying but the good thing is, moments are generally harmless. In common scenarios, attacks rarely last for over 30 minutes, with maximum of severity within the first 10 minutes. What make such attacks damaging is when it turns out to be unrelieved and if it even affects the welfare of a person and already disrupts a normal existence.

A panic or anxiety attacks cure really works differently from person to another to really keep the panic away. How Stress Impacts You

Posted by Franco Ieraci on April 3rd, 2011 and filed under diet | Comments Off

The impacts of stress very from individual to individual and is all based on how the situation at hand is perceived. The impacts of stress depends on which events a person notices and whether the person interprets the noticed event in a positive or in a negative manner. Thus, the perception of stress-related events vary across individuals and across situations.

In the circumstance that Bob and Frank get fired from work,

Now, look at the different ways that they react:

Bob: “What am I going to do? I can’t believe this happened to me! All my goals have gone down the drain, I am a nobody anymore, I will never find another job”

Frank: “Ah well, it is what it is. Until I find a new job, I will dedicate my time to my family; I can even help little Suzy with her projects at school! It will be a great opportunity to bond!”

Of course that getting laid off isn’t a pleasurable experience, but I hope that I have gotten my point across; that every event which happens affects different individuals in unique ways. Thus, we can conclude that Stress is in the Eye of the Beholder.

If Stress is in the Eye of the Beholder…why does it matter? Well, because if stress impacts different individuals in a different manner that means that stress is subjective rather than objective; meaning that you have the power to change the stress that you feel. Often, people think that stress impacts everyone the same way and as a result a stressed person can never achieve any sort of stress relief. Well, that is not true at all! But, it is important to keep in mind that when you start your journey of relieving your stress, you must begin by changing the way that you view your environment. It is important to always think of the class “half full” not “half empty”; why? well just a simple change of thought can completely turn your life around – it makes you appreciate everything a lot more, it helps you cope with situations, and it trains your mind to always see the best in everything. Having a positive attitude goes a long way because it is the first step to reducing your stress. In addition, believe the saying that “everything happens for a reason”…because it really does. So often we are faced with difficult situations and shortly after something so amazing happens in our life…and that is when we sit and think to ourselves ; “Hm, I thought that I would never get through that bad situation, but look at me now! And I am so glad that bad situation happened, otherwise I would never find my way to this amazing thing that just happened to me!”

As a child my mother always told me to look in the mirror and say to myself 10 things which I love most about myself. In time, I gained the most confidence I ever had in my whole entire life. When we verbalize the things we love about ourselves we become aware of our accomplishments. We are so caught up in wanting to be perfect, whatever perfect may be in our eyes, that we so often forget the many things that we accomplished and how great we are. Perfection is different to everyone; whether it is pleasing someone, accomplishing a goal, being the best at your job; whatever your “perfect” view of yourself and of the world is, always know that you can accomplish it…there is nothing which we can’t accomplish, but also realize that accomplishing our view of perfection takes time, perseverance and dedication; you can be sure of one thing…nothing comes cheap. But regardless of all of that, regardless whether you become the “perfect” you or not, be happy of the person you have become on your journey and the many amazing things you have learned along the way…none of which would have been possible had you not embarked on your journey.

I will finish this by saying…learn all that there is about your environment; what makes you mad, what makes you happy…and avoid every situation in which you do not feel comfortable. ALWAYS surround yourself with people you love and those who love you. Life is too short to take it for granted …ALWAYS Live, Love, and Laugh.

Step Away From The Cake And Don’t Panic! Causes Of Panic Attacks 3

Posted by Leslie Michaelson on October 30th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

For a fitness freak, I have a serious passion for sweet things. When eating something so delicious its hard to believe that it could be one of the major causes of panic attacks. My parents live in Orlando Florida, and whenever I go to see them we always end up at this little restaurant called The Briarpatch that home makes incredible ice creams and cakes. Now the slices of cake or little on the large side so you’d normally want to share it with the family of four. My all-time favorite desserts are bananas foster in red velvet cake. They excel at red velvet cake!

Can I tell you that after the last time I ate an entire piece of red velvet cake from there I’d start to freak out if I couldn’t get my head comfortable on a pillow. Seriously. Why? Because for those who suffer from panic attacks, refined sugar is one of the three worst things you can put into your body.

Now it’s clear that the causes of panic attacks are numerous; stresses in your life, amount of rest, physical condition, diet, and mental health all contribute to the likelihood that you’ll suffer from panic attacks. As far as diet is concerned, there are three things you must avoid to give yourself the greatest chance of success to avoid ever having a panic attack again. The “terrible three” are caffeine, alcohol, and sugar. In other articles I go into depth about caffeine and alcohol. For the moment, suffice it to say that they are all bad Very bad.

So you’re probably saying, “It’s bad enough that sugar can give me cavities without having to worry about it causing me freak out?” That’s exactly what I’m saying. Besides being full of empty calories and loaded with cavity creeps, refined sugars wreak havoc with your blood sugar level. That in turn can cause feelings of anxiety. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that it’s much more difficult to avoid an episode of panic if you’re already anxious.

Though there may literally be hundreds of things that can trigger a panic attack, the root cause is usually the same thing – our thoughts. Typically we’ll lose control of a thought then our bodies react in that dreaded flight or fight response that we recognize as a panic attack. Luckily, modifying our diet can make our bodies less sensitive. The benefits you’ll enjoy by limiting the amount of refined sugar in your diet are twofold. The first benefit is that you will be less anxious and therefore less likely to have a panic attack. The second benefit is that by consciously taking a step to stop panic attacks by limiting the sugar in your diet, you have taken control. In your mind YOU KNOW that you are no longer as susceptible to panic attacks. Because panic attacks are primarily mental, simply believing that you can’t have a panic attack is super powerful.

So do you need to give up refined sugars forever? If you can, might as well. There is no lack of choice for sugar free alternatives available today. Many of them come with their own warning label, but Stevia tastes good and appears to be very safe. If quitting refined sugar just seems downright impossible, try weaning yourself off of it until you’re barely consuming any at all. Getting rid of the dietary causes of panic attacks will increase your quality-of-life, your health, your appearance, and overall well-being. This is a step in regaining control of your life.

Posted by Erina Jones on September 26th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

The first thing to do when feeling depressed is to determine the reason why you are feeling that way at the moment. Denying the fact that you are depressed will only worsen the situation. After knowing the reason for you depression, talk to someone about it; don’t keep it to yourself because it will do you no good. Letting your emotions out will greatly help you deal with depression.

Exercise has been found to be an effective cure for depression. It is safe to say that they can be good substitute for medicine too. If you are depressed right now, go outside for a little walk. A change of scenery and a gush of sweat will relieve you of any anxiety or stress that may probably be the cause of your feeling down and blue.

Lack of sleep may sometimes cause a person to fall into depression. Chocolate (dark chocolate in particular) is a good source of antioxidants. In fact, it is now considered as the highest-ranking antioxidant-rich food! And for that, we can say that eating a bar of chocolate can cure you of your depression since antioxidants fight off free radicals that damages cells in our body, thus affecting our mood. Aside from chocolate, other anti-depressant food includes fruits, salmon fish and oats.

Most of the time when a person is depressed he will tend to see everything in a negative way. If you are feeling this way, try to change your focus. Instead of dwelling on your problems, start counting your blessings. When you do this you will begin to feel good about yourself and depression will slowly go away.

An unusual thing that you can do in order to fight off depression is to visit your mom’s garden. In ancient times, gardens were kept inside the palace for the king to visit whenever he wants to relax. Remember King Nebuchadnezzar II who built the hanging garden for his homesick wife? This is obviously one of the best and natural ways to cure yourself of depression. You should try it out!
