It’s Day 22 On My Prescription HCG Diet

Posted by Amelia Handley on January 11th, 2011 and filed under diet | Comments Off

The program is 26 days and I’m on Day 22. I did pretty good today and I’ve got less than one week left on the program. I’m shocked at how short this very low calorie phase seems now that I’m almost done.

Me and Lisa (my dieting buddy) both bought our HCG dieting products from a HCG wholesale place online; or at least they had HCG wholesale prices. The company was called Prescription HCG Diet Direct. They offered a lot of additional supplements and tools that have definitely helped in making the diet easier. My sister started a program once but never finished it because it was so expensive.

I sent her the info for this company’s product listings because I am positive that she’d be able to complete the program and see the weight loss. The money was the only issue for her that caused her to stop in the middle of the program. I think she’ll be able to start over on a new HCG program and see huge weight loss.

Today when I got on the scale it was a little sad. I went up. I went up an entire pound. Hate that! But my clothes are all still fitting quite loosely and I feel great. I’m healthier and more energetic and I’m sleeping better. It’s great.

I took my HCG and my B-total this AM. I love the extra energy that comes from that tiny little bit of B-Total that I take each morning. It’s lovely. I can’t tell why I went up a pound. I can’t remember anything in particular being wrong yesterday. But I figured it might be that I didn’t drink enough water. So I have been drinking a ton of the stuff all day. I meant to drink some Green Tea too, but then I didn’t. I just don’t like it. Alright…honesty! I HATE the stuff. I need to look around at the store next time I’m out and find another type of tea that I can try. Because I’m not man enough to stomach the Green Tea. It’s like drinking puke. Although I’ve never done that so that’s just me exaggerating my hatred.

I followed the rules with my eating all day. I ate nothing until lunch and then at lunch I had chicken with steamed cabbage and Melba Toasts. I also had an Orange Slush (from the cookbook). I had Filet Mignon and baby spinach for dinner. I also had sliced apples and Melba toasts again. The kids still love the Orange Slush…they had it for breakfast.

My 15th Day on the HCG Diet: Prescription HCG Weight Loss

Posted by Amelia Handley on December 5th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Fifteen days. That’s half a month and more than half of my Prescription HCG weight loss program. I am pretty excited. I like to check out what other people have to say about the diet and the stages they went through. From everything I read, I’m supposed to feel like the diet is a lot easier now that I’m more than halfway through. I’m not so sure that’s how I feel about things. I mean I don’t want to complain, but eating 500 calorie meals doesn’t compare to a huge helping of some of my favorite foods. So I still have cravings but I do know how to better navigate them.

I mean, I can sort of see that, but I can’t exactly say the diet feels much easier to me. However, on the plus side, I feel I’m better equipped now to succeed on the diet. I know what to shop for at the store. I know how to prepare the foods I need to eat and I also understand the portion sizes. I know what I’m in for every day. I know what I’m supposed to do and if I don’t do it, I also know it’s my fault.

So I guess that’s an improvement.

Rather than being at a state of “easiness” as indicated by the diet consumer reviews I’m at a state of “awareness.” And that’s a good step, I would say. This morning I got on the scale and I was at 156; that’s a 3 pound drop. I love that!

This is what today looked like: I took the Prescription HCG injection and B-Total sublingual drops when I woke up. I also have a B-Total vitamin supplement that I take in the morning, but today I decided to wait until later in the afternoon. You don’t have to take the B-Total to do the diet, but for me, I think it’s helped me lose extra weight and I still feel like I have a lot of energy.

For lunch I had a green onion burger (it’s in the cookbook) and half a grapefruit. I had Melba Toasts for snack later on in the afternoon. I finally found some more of the Spicy 3 Pepper flavor that is so delicious. I can’t decide if it’s just in comparison to all the other available “cracker” flavors at my disposal or if I am going to continue thinking they’re fabulous post-diet and post-maintenance when I can occasionally indulge in a Cheez It or two. We’ll see, I guess.

For dinner I had the taco salad from the cookbook. It was good; not my favorite, but alright. That’s probably just because Taco Salad is a classic dish that I grew up with and it’s amazingly yummy the way I remember having it throughout my childhood and the HCG version just veered too far away from what I already knew. But it’s worth a try for anyone looking for quick, easy, healthy meals that the whole family can eat.

Prescription HCG Diet, Day 13

Posted by Amelia Handley on December 4th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Today is my thirteenth day on the Prescription HCG Diet. I’m about halfway through and things were going along perfectly, averaging about a pound of weight loss every day, until I blew it. I really blew it yesterday. I went to my niece’s birthday party unprepared. There were no Prescription HCG approved foods, so I ended up satisfying my hunger with a turkey leg, Caesar Salad and potato salad. It was good, but it wasn’t worth the guilt I feel because of it. I didn’t want to get on the scale this morning, but I did.

But if you’re a hater and you’re hoping my weight will jump by a bunch then you’re going to be disappointed. Because when I got on the scale this morning to weight myself that’s not what happened. I was still at 160 pounds. I stayed exactly the same. Of course I would rather have dropped a few pounds, but staying the same in this particular scenario is absolutely agreeable.

My weight could very well jump up tomorrow since there’s often a delayed reaction, but for now I’m not totally depressed.

It is Monday. No more parties for a while. I dropped the kids off at school. I fed them a breakfast of eggs and toast, but I didn’t have anything, like the Prescription HCG Diet tells me to.

I think the reason I cheated yesterday was because there were no good options of what I could eat. And really, if I had waited until I got home to eat, I probably would have ended up with a terrible headache. It’s true, I’m just making excuses. I’m going to try to stop. So today, I took the Prescription HCG injection and B-Total supplement to get me going.

I read several online oral Prescription HCG reviews and noticed that some could possibly help me to avoid negative repercussions from yesterday’s extravagance. I didn’t see anything that useful. But I’m going to keep looking. And I was going to try to stick to the plan really, really well for the day.

I grilled Creole seasoned chicken. I am openly obsessed with this seasoning at this point. For lunch I had some grilled chicken and a sliced tomato and Melba toasts. I had a lot of lemon water throughout the day. I’ve been doing Lisa’s pitcher method. I forced a cup of green tea down and I had an apple in the mid-afternoon.

I don’t waste any cooking efforts on the diet, so I put the Creole Chicken in with asparagus for a tasty soup. Soups are easy because I can make a big batch, then save individual servings so they are ready to go. With winter weather, the soups feel good.

I had Melba toasts along with the soup again and I had another apple. I haven’t had an apple “whole” in years. I always cut it up. But I’ve retrained myself to have an apple “whole.” That way I can just grab an apple and toss it in my purse so I have a readymade Prescription HCG approved snack for the afternoon.

Day 16 of the Prescription Weight Loss Diet

Posted by Amelia Handley on December 4th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

I’m close. I’m so close I can taste it, or maybe I’m just craving the foods I’ll be able to eat at the end of the diet. It’s been a lot of chicken for sure. A little variety will be very welcome. 9 more days and that’s when I get to start the maintenance phase. For those who don’t know, I’m on the Prescription HCG diet, which is also known as the 500 calorie diet or a very low calorie diet. I’ll recap the basics of the diet for anyone that’s just starting to read the articles.

The Prescription HCG diet starts out with two loading days. Loading means two days filled with as much fatty, bad for you foods as you like. Ice cream, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, you name it and you can eat it. And I did. You take the Prescription HCG injections during these two days so the HCG gets into the body’s system.

The next step is to start the 500 calorie portion of the diet. This is the VLCD section and this goes on for 23 days.

When that’s over, then there’s the maintenance phase. This teaches dieters how to incorporate healthy foods and increase calories without gaining weight back. It’s not required, but most of the success stories I’ve heard of have included this phase of the diet.

I like to always be prepared. I’m already thinking about the maintenance phase even though I still have 9.5 days to go. The benefit of the maintenance phase is you get to increase your calorie intake to 1500 calories a day. You also get to incorporate different foods and flavors.

The maintenance phase has rules that have to be followed. For example, you can’t start eating donuts or cookies again. The maintenance phase says no sugar, dextrose, sucrose, honey, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, starch, artificial sweeteners (Stevia excluded), fast food, trans fat and nitrates.

That’s where most dieter’s troubles come from anyway.

Prescription HCG is kind enough to provide a recipe guide for the maintenance phase. The one for the 500 calorie diet has been so helpful. I doubt I would have been able to stick to the diet without it. I make up my list of approved foods before I go to the store and then I walk past all the ‘bad’ aisles and stick to fruits, veggies and lean protein.

Now you know how the diet works. Let’s move on to what my day was like today.

As usual, I got up and weighed myself. Darn it, I was still at 156 pounds. That’s what I was at yesterday. And I didn’t cheat, I didn’t eat more than I was supposed to or anything I wasn’t supposed to and not a pound lost. It does happen, I read about it that women’s weight may go up and down. I’m going to try to change that by drinking more water and unfortunately more green tea (I don’t like it).

I took the Prescription HCG injection and my B-Total for the day. After a while, the injections are just another part of the daily routine. They are nothing like I thought they’d be.

I had another green onion burger for lunch (gotta’ love leftovers) with the other half of the grapefruit I had yesterday and some Melba Toasts. For dinner I had the last of the grilled chicken I had in the fridge (leftovers again).

I drank a ton of water. I drank so much water, I almost felt like I was drowning. I hope all this effort pays off with more weight loss tomorrow.

My Prescription HCG Diet, Day 12

Posted by Amelia Handley on December 1st, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Okey Dokey…let’s get started. In a lot of the diet reviews that I ran into online dieters mentioned (over and over) the fact that when you’re trying to follow the rules of the prescription HCG diet you just need to go ahead and stay home. And it is so, so true. Let me tell you why.

Today’s Day 12 for me on the prescription HCG diet. I’ll give you a quick recap in case you haven’t been keeping up with the story through the daily articles. I decided to lose weight using the prescription HCG diet. I chose to work with a company called Prescription HCG. I harassed a friend (Lisa) until she agreed to be my dieting buddy/biggest competitor. We made a side bet. Whoever loses the most weight gets a new pair of jeans courtesy of the other. And I want a new pair of jeans!

So far I’d say that I’m doing well. I’ve lost weight and I’m happy with my weight loss. But I have hit some definite road blocks. Let me start from the beginning of Day 12.

The day started out normally. I weighed myself like I was supposed to. I have remembered to do this every day of the diet except once. I’m impressed with my memory about that. My weight today was 160, which is awesome. Another pound dropped from yesterday. It’s only been 11 full days and I’ve dropped 11 pounds. It helps keep me going.

I’ve read a lot about weight loss and what works and a lot of studies say seeing results helps people stay on their diets and do the work it takes to keep losing weight. I’ve been careful not to stock a lot of snacks in the house, because I know I’ll eat them when the kids go to school. My one slip-up was at a mall, when I had a few bites of my kid’s fried and delicious food. So I stayed away from malls, but today’s challenge I couldn’t say no to. It’s my niece’s birthday.

As I mentioned, I started the day right. I weighed myself then took the Prescription HCG injection as well as my B-Total. The party was BBQ themed, so I figured there would be grilled chicken – approved for the Prescription HCG diet. However, things don’t always go as planned. I hadn’t eaten and lunch got pushed back to dinner and I needed to eat. This wasn’t good because there was no grilled chicken. My choices were BBQ sausage and turkey legs. Neither of these are approved foods.

I looked around. The side dishes were potato salad and Caesar salad. Also not approved for the diet. And there was a delicious looking cake, which I did expect because it was a birthday after all. I took a deep breath and took one, just one, turkey leg. But then, I was so hungry, I added potato salad and Caesar salad. It was delicious.

But I didn’t have cake? Are you proud of me? I know, I know…”proud” is asking a bit too much at the moment. It was not a good day. And I’m dreading getting on the scale tomorrow. I feel like I should get online and add to the mountain of reviews out there discussing how if you really want to succeed on the diet that you just need to stay home. But I decided that I would wait until the program is complete before I add my opinion to the lot.

It’s The Prescription HCG Diet And It’s Day 11

Posted by Lonnie Heare on November 30th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Yeah! I went down a pound…even though I had a sugar cookie breakdown last night (don’t ask). When I weighed myself this morning I was at 161 lbs. So I’m losing again…and that’s so good!

I’m getting more and more excited to see my final, total weight loss. It’s going to be amazing to get to add all the weight loss up and say it out loud. I can’t wait! My HCG dieting partner, Lisa, has only lost a few pounds and she’s bugged. But I’ve been hitting the average weight loss numbers pretty much and I’m really excited about it.

I told Lisa that I bet it’s because she doesn’t drink enough water. Before we started this diet I swear I’d never seen her drink water. But she does love hot drinks so she’s been able to get attached to the herbal tea. That’s a good thing, but it’s not the same as having water. She’s going to use the pitcher method: fill a pitcher up in the morning with how much water you should drink throughout the day and then see if you empty it by the end of the day.

I am considering upping my water intake as well. It could possibly help. My weight loss has slowed down in the last few days. And one of the plateau breakers listed in the guide is to increase the water you’re drinking. It also suggests Green Tea.

It makes me think about trying the green tea again even though I already tried it and I didn’t like it. But if it increased my weight loss I’m sure I could get it down. I took my HCG injection this morning as required by the HCG weight loss cure guide a supplemental guide to Dr Simeons HCG protocol.

I also took my B-total oral drops first thing. I attempted to enjoy a cup of Red Zinger herbal tea. I drank it, but I didn’t enjoy it. I want to love it; that would make this a lot easier, but the love it not there.

For lunch I had the last of my Turkey and Tomato Soup leftovers with Melba Toast. And I had apples sliced with lemon squeezed on top as my fruit. I took some meat out of the freezer to defrost for dinner.

For dinner I grilled chicken with Creole seasoning. It was even yummier since I had defrosted the meat first. I’ll have to remember to plan ahead enough so that I don’t cook my meals with frozen or partially frozen meat. I had more steamed cabbage and Melba Toasts along with the chicken.

Lisa called and let me know that she came nowhere close to drinking the pitcher of water. In response she was going to force it all down in the two hours before bed. I wasn’t sure about that plan, but she insisted so I guess we’ll see how it turns out.

But I did agree to help her try to drink a ton more water tomorrow and from now on. The water bottle idea works well for me; I’ll have to tell her to try it. I keep them everywhere. There’s one in my purse, in my car, on my nightstand…everywhere! There’s always water just sitting there waiting for me when I need it.

14 Days And I Haven’t Given Up On The Prescription HCG Diet

Posted by Lonnie Heare on November 29th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

After 14 days on the Prescription HCG Diet, I’m feeling pretty good and I’m still losing weight. I don’t know why I thought I wouldn’t but almost every day I see proof of this diet working. Lisa, my friend, is also on the diet but she’s not losing as much weight as me. That is normal and some people lose more weight than others. I secretly think it’s because I ordered the B-Total Supplement, but no need to tell her that.

Why wouldn’t I tell her? We’re competing for a new pair of jeans, and I could really use them. Is that so wrong?

I volunteered in my son’s classroom today. While I was there the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) dropped off huge, iced sugar cookies as a Thank You treat. They looked amazing. And do you know what I did? I didn’t eat it. YEAH! Instead I snuck it into the desk of the first kid that I walked by. I figured that would be a nice little surprise for him. I’m sure you agree.

I wanted to mention that because I’m really happy with myself. I was faced with temptation, it was sitting in my hand – and I turned it down. Yippee! So today, I lost another pound. Really. I was down to 159 when I weight myself right after I got out of bed. Yesterday I was perfect on the diet, so I had hoped to lose at least two pounds. However, since I cheated two days ago, I’m not complaining.

Lisa and I were talking about the injections and we both agree that it’s a “nothin’ doin’” type of procedure. You’re scared of it and imagine it’s going to be a big deal and then…surprise! Nothin’ doin’! You hardly notice it and you feel like a pro immediately. I also explained to her the advantage of the B-Total because she didn’t order any. It’s amazing! Energy in a bottle. I love it.

It was a grilled chicken lunch again today with my favorite creole seasoning. I had a type of bruschetta, or Melba Toast loaded up with diced tomato and onions. Very good.

Instead of the apple in my purse, I waited for some strawberries after lunch. I also drink a ton of water before and after every meal so I feel more full and am not so likely to take a few extra bites. Portion sizes are very strict on the Prescription HCG Diet.

I felt like I was going to turn into a chicken if I didn’t get away from that particular protein so we had steak for dinner. I chose lean cuts and stayed away from the high salt seasonings we usually use. Since my kids both LOVE steak…they loved dinner tonight even though they wanted nothing to do with the steamed asparagus that went along with the Beef! The two of them had fresh French Bread instead of the Melba Toasts I stuck to and then when we were done we all enjoyed the Mock Apple Cobbler (from the Recipe Guide).

Article 20: Day 8 on my Prescription HCG Diet

Posted by Lonnie Heare on November 28th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

I got up and got on the scale this morning again. And I didn’t lose any weight. Bummer, right? But I didn’t gain any weight either. So that’s something. I just stayed exactly the same at 162 pounds.

I think I need to drink more water. I tend to go in spurts. I’ll drink a ton at once, but then I’ll go hours without any at all. My new plan is to drink an entire glass and then keep a full glass beside me so I’ll keep drinking more. I’ll let you know how it goes.

At lunch I had leftover Turkey burger. That’s from a recipe I pulled from the Prescription HCG Diet Direct Recipe Guide. I read a few HCG weight loss reviews and noticed that a lot of other dieters really like the recipes in the recipe guide so I guess I should stop being so surprised that they are good when I try them.

With the burger I had an orange and some Sesame flavor Melba toasts. I hate all the seeds in the oranges so I think I’ll avoid them from now on and having the Sesame flavor only made me miss the Spicy 3 Pepper flavor that’s my favorite. I’m all out and not too happy about the prospect.

I’ll have to go back to the grocery store that I found them at. They didn’t have them when I went to restock my HCG foods at Walmart so I ended up with a different variety of Melba Toast.

How odd is it that the Melba Toasts aren’t even with the crackers in the cracker section a lot of the time? I haven’t tried the crunchy breadsticks that I heard mentioned in some of the HCG weight loss reviews, but I mean to look for them next time. (They are also oddly placed apparently. I heard they were usually in the Italian food aisle with the spaghetti sauce and pasta).

For dinner I had grilled chicken (it’s a classic…and the kids like it). I seasoned it with the approved Creole seasoning (if you can’t tell I’m getting attached to it). The kids had steamed broccoli, but that’s not HCG approved so I had a romaine salad.

I stayed up after the kids went to bed to watch a movie and relax. I made the Mock Apple Cobbler from the recipe book. And I have to note just how fantastic the smell was while it was cooking. I can’t even tell you how wonderful it smells.

But I’ll try anyway. It smells delicious. It probably smells even more delicious than it tastes, but it still tastes very, very good.

Overall…today was a good one. I did well. I’m following the rules. Granted…I’ve been staying home, but I don’t think I’m the only one who has a hard time sticking to the rules in a social or public or work setting. That’s noted in a bunch of the online diet reviews as a tough transition. So I think I’m doing great!

Article 14: Second Day For Prescription HCG

Posted by Lonnie Heare on November 28th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Before we get started with the Prescription HCG business…Happy Thanksgiving! So do you agree with me now? We totally chose the absolute most perfect day to start the prescription HCG diet. Thanksgiving went really well.

I stuck to the HCG protocol for weight loss exactly AND I enjoyed all the traditional Thanksgiving Day foods. It was sublime.

1st thing in the am (after I got up) I went ahead and weighed myself. I took my HCG right after I weighed myself and then had some B-Total sublingual drops. Once that was finished…I went ahead and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. That’s right…plural. I had 2. It is a loading day after all.

During the loading days you’re supposed to eat a lot of high fat foods. And when it comes to fatty foods, cinnamon rolls place kind of high up on the charts. It was the perfect beginning for a loading day. After breakfast I made an applie pie for the Thanksgiving gathering. I snacked on spiced apples during the process, of course. Thanksgiving being in progress ensured that there were tons of yummy foods around the house for me to include in my ‘loading.’

Loading was obviously not a problem for me. The fact that I started the day before Thanksgiving meant that tons of food was all around me, convenient for me to reach out and grab and snack on. It made loading particularly easy.

While I didn’t have a problem loading…it is one of the “common mistakes” that is listed for dieters who fail to reach their weight loss goals at Prescription HCG Diet Direct. Apparently it’s important. If you don’t get enough fat during that time you end up with additional struggles during the very low calorie diet. Failed loading days can result in headaches, extra crankiness, hunger pains and more.

I definitely want to avoid hunger and headaches and being cranky as much as possible. I think there will be enough of that without me putting myself at a disadvantage through lack of fat during loading. I’m still going to have my rough days, I’m sure. But at least I’ll be able to know that it could have been worse if I hadn’t been successful during loading.

Since it’s Thanksgiving I’m going to say that the prescription HCG protocol seems like a total piece of “pie.” I had Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I enjoyed all the traditionally fabulous foods (mashed potatoes and gravy, ham, turkey, pie, pie and more pie). It was beyond yummy and the perfect way to end my last day of loading before starting the very low calorie portion of the diet. Tomorrow I have to start my day with herbal tea and then hold out until lunch. We’ll see how that goes!

Article 21: It’s Day Nine On My Prescription HCG Diet

Posted by Lonnie Heare on November 25th, 2010 and filed under diet | Comments Off

Alright…so think back. Do you remember how I was telling you the other day that I was impressed that even though I’m known for having a “daily routine” I hadn’t yet forgotten to weigh myself in the morning as required during prescription HCG therapy for weight loss? Well it’s finally happened. Today I totally forgot to weigh myself.

I don’t have any idea what made me forget. It was a normal day with normal happenings. I think I just forgot that I have to actively attempt to follow the rules by making sure that do what it says I need to do in the protocol. Today’s Thursday and since I didn’t weigh myself I can’t tell you how much I weigh. I’m a little nervous because this weekend we’re going to a few fun, social activities like a birthday and a bbq.

I’ve got my fingers crossed that there will be something I can eat at the upcoming gatherings. I’m just hoping that whatever they have is at least a little bit approved for eating during my HCG therapy. But I’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m hoping that there will be something available to eat at the upcoming gatherings that is at least a little bit approved for eating during my HCG therapy. But I’ll just have to wait and see.

My kids have started to get involved. They ask me if stuff that I am contemplating in the kitchen is “on my diet.” That’s helpful (even if it is extremely vexing…alright…I’ll be honest. It’s massively irritating). It is kind of belittling to have an eight year old and a nine year old reminding you to stick to your guns because you’re supposed to be dieting.

I chose to get stuff so I could try Chicken Asparagus Soup, Turkey Tomato Soup and Orange Cremesicle. And on top of that I knew I was running out of fruits and vegetables so I visited the produce section for those items as well.

I decided to get stuff so I could try Chicken Asparagus Soup, Turkey Tomato Soup and Orange Cremesicle. And on top of that I knew I was low on fruits and vegetables so I visited the produce section for those items as well.

I already decided that I don’t like the produce at Walmart as much as the normal grocery store. I only go there if it’s really late and normal stores are closed or something. The produce from the regular grocery store seems to last longer in my fridge. I don’t like going to the store constantly and if the fresh items can last longer that saves me trips! Walmart is definitely cheaper, but it’s worth it to me for the fruit to last a bit longer.

Walmart also doesn’t carry the Spicy 3 Pepper cracker variety that I’ve become so attached to. So that already requires me to visit the “normal” store anyway.

I made soup for lunch: Turkey and Tomato. I can’t say that the recipe sounded very good at first, but it turned out really great. I used fresh herbs from the garden, but other than that…I followed the recipe exactly.

I had Melba toast with my soup (original flavor is great for dipping). And I saved my snack for mid-afternoon. It ended up being an apple.

I had Filet Mignon for dinner. I pulled the bacon off prior to cooking and then cooked it up separately to give to my kids. They love bacon. (Who doesn’t, right?) The Filet Mignon was really good. I hadn’t had beef in a bit and I was apparently craving it! For my vegetable I had steamed cabbage. I know most people don’t have a liking for this vegetable, but I’ve got a strange preference for it so I thought it was great with a little salt and a lot of pepper.

I’ll have to try the Orange Cremesicle recipe on another day after I go out and buy a blender.
